Monday started off with a very wet day with rain all day, this made very damp day fishing with the waterproofs being tested by all anglers. Season ticket holder Ed Douglas took to the water landing 10 fish all on dries Ed found the fish from all areas of the lake but found a good concentration of fish out in the deeper water from Rainbow Corner. Rod Wilson had a good day on the rudder landing 14 fish with 4 rainbows going over 3lb 8oz, Rod found the best line was a 3 inch per second sinking line with gold tubes. Derek Edwards and Barry Evans enjoyed good sport to daddies landing 11 fish. Phil Davies caught from all over the lake while out on a boat landing 8 fish using Diawl bachs. Kevin Rees had good sport Monday landing 10 fish all on dries with crippled midge being his best pattern.
Tony Broadway enjoyed good sport from the bank Tuesday fishing the cornfield and Biggin Bay landing 14 fish using the washing line and dries. Brian Warwick also had good sport from the bank landing 7 fish. Out on the boats Richard Dayman and Norman Perkins enjoyed good sport fishing near the inlet, rainbow corner and the outlet boating 20 fish. Bank on the boats Derek Edwards and Barry Evans landed 12 fish again on daddies and wets fished on floating lines. Mrs E Davies also enjoyed good sports on CDC dries fished in Rainbow corner from the boat. On the bank for the afternoon Ray Cramp had a good afternoon landing 14 fish on midge patterns with his 8 fish bag going 21lbs.
Wednesday Dennis Jones kicked off the bank fishing landing 6 fish from the outlet on small size 14 buzzers fished on a floating line. Colin Day also enjoyed good sport from the bank landing 5 fish with his fish coming from Hensborough bank and the cornfield using snail patterns and black Diawl Bachs. Out on the boats Steve Cranston landed 11 fish from near the tower. Kate Royce was on the water getting in some early practice for the English ladies national final held on Sunday, her and boat partner Mike Barrett landed 10 fish between them. Tony day also had a good day out on the water landing 7 fish on dries while out on a morning boat Tony caught his fish around A buoy B Buoy and Rainbow Corner. Out on the bank Yousef Dar enjoyed good sport landing 8 fish on a variety of methods with his best area being the Cornfield.
Thursday was very calm day wind wise with an overcast start to the morning with sun coming through late morning early afternoon. Tony Broadway and Brian Warick again took to the bank, catching well from Biggin, cornfield and the swans nest with Tony landing 15 fish and Brian with 8, with washing lining nymphs and buzzers being the best method. R Curtis and his boat partner enjoyed good sport landing 20 fish to the boat. Kevin Rees again took to the water from a boat fishing dries to land 9 fish with drifts down the Cornfield and Lincroft point being his best areas. D Quigley enjoyed good sport with 17 fish with the best method being either CDC dries or boobies fish in the surface.
For the third time this week Tony Broadway makes in to the report this time with 10 fish with them all falling to size 14 buzzers and crunchers. Brian Warwick also had good sport on the bank landing 5 fish from the bank, with the best areas being Duns Bay and Biggin Bay. Mr T Evans & J Evans had 13 fish from the boat with all the fish coming on dries from various areas of the lake. Tony Day also used dries to land 7 fish with dries down the Cornfield into Biggin Bay and off F buoy being the best areas. Mark Smith was another angler using dries to land 11 fish from the boat. Jamies Scott also found the fish down the Cornfield to land 12 fish using a combination of cormorants, Diawl Bachs and snakes fish on a 3 inch per second sinking line. Fishery Ranger Tom Bird was also out on the water guiding Gwyneth Mooney ahead of the women’s national on Sunday. It was the first time out on Draycote for Gwyneth and under Toms guidance she went on to land 10 fish on dries with Big reds being the top pattern. The pair found fish off Hensborough bank towards A buoy near B buoy, Lincroft point and then also in the wind lanes.
Saturday saw very windy conditions greeting the anglers on arrival. Melvin Severn used these conditions to his advantage landing 10 fish on the rudder from all over the lake using tubes. Mr Winston and A Gourlay enjoyed good sport landing 30 fish to the boat fishing up near the Hensbrough bank drifting towards A and M buoy short lining hoppers on a floating line. Mr Quigley also had a good day landing 10 fish to the boat again using floating lines and flies fished in the surface. Fishery Ranger Tom Bird was again on the water this time guiding Sheena Goode the pair had 18 fish to the boat using 3 inch per second sinking lines with a combination on blobs, boobies, dabblers and hoppers. They found the fish in Rainbow corner, cornfield, toft, and Biggin bay.

Sunday saw Draycote host the ladies National Final with 16 ladies fishing for 8 places in a chance to represent their country in nest years home international held on Loch Melvin in Ireland. Sue Hunter took top spot landing 7 fish using a small black and red booby fished on a floating line. Here boat partner Louise Callow came second with 6 fish using the same method; the pair found the fish over near the outlet from the treatment works on tower bank. In third place was Heather Lamacraft with 4 fish. Outside of the competition Tony Parker had a good days sport from the boats landing 11 fish using buzzers and crunchers fished on a midge tip line. Jim Smith also used dries to land 15 fish from all over the lake.
Just a quick note we have had a great deal of angler not fill in their returns this week, can we please ask that all anglers fill in the catch return sheet before departing. The sheets will either be located in the gutting room or in the lodge depending on the time of day. It is important for our fishing records and fish stock levels.

Forthcoming events:
The annual Fur and Feather match will be held this year on Sunday 27th November, and will be fished as a pair’s competition. Fished to fishery rules, NO RUDDER
The winning pair will receive a Christmas hamper each with second, third and largest fish will win a selection of seasonal drinks. Please note there will be no raffle this year, no need to bring along a prize. Competition rate for this will be £68 per boat for a 16 fish limit to the boat (£34 per angler). Selling of Fish
Anglers are not allowed to sell or distribute fish to members of the public on site.
Disabled Parking Bays
Anglers need to ensure that whilst obtaining a fishing permit, they do not park in the disabled parking bays adjacent to the main car park, unless they are the holder of a duly displayed “blue badge”.
Gutting Room
Please be aware that the Gutting Room refurbishment has now been completed. We ask that you respect the facility and leave it in the same way in which you would wish to find it. Please also note that no fish are to be gutted after 19:15
Returns
In order to maintain the accuracy of our records could all anglers please ensure that they fill in the catch return sheet before departure. If not in the lodge, it can be found next door in the gutting room.
Anchoring
Boat anglers are politely reminded of the ruling that there is no anchoring within 100 yards of any pontoon, aerators or the Tower. This is especially relevant to the harbour pontoon as its own mooring chains & anchors extend out a considerable distance from the end of the harbour & are easily fouled.
Bank Anglers
Car passes should be booked prior to coming fishing, as we only have a limited number available.
Rudder Hire
Boat anglers may wish to note that we now have a rudder for hire at the daily rate of £7. It can be pre booked at the time you make your boat booking.
